More flexible conditions for blood donations?

A study by the Vaud and Basel transfusion centers, presented in Milan, explores the use of blood from people with hemochromatosis, a condition of excess iron. Currently unused as a precautionary measure, this blood could be accepted for donation, thereby increasing the blood supply.
